The undisputed king of Bairrada, Adega de Cantanhede has been transforming the mercurial Baga grape into wines of extraordinary character since 1954. Under the visionary guidance of Chief Winemaker António Ventura — named Wine Personality of the Year 2021 by Revista de Vinhos — the cooperative commands over 25% market share of Bairrada DOC wines and has garnered more than 1,300 awards in a decade. Their sparkling wines, made by traditional bottle-fermented method, are a revelation and reflect Bairrada's historic role as Portugal's premier sparkling wine region. With 486 member winegrowers and export reach across 20+ countries, this is cooperative winemaking at its most ambitious and accomplished.
