About

The story

Adega Cooperativa Regional de Monção was founded in October 1958 by 25 local winegrowers in the Monção e Melgaço sub-region of Vinho Verde, on Portugal's border with Galicia. The cooperative works with Alvarinho, Trajadura, Vinhão, Alvarelhão and Pedral.

Its flagship, Muralhas de Monção, blends 85% Alvarinho with 15% Trajadura, with around 3.5 million bottles produced a year. The 2022 vintage ranked 41st in Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2023 with 90 points, the first Vinho Verde ever on the list, and Revista de Vinhos named it Brand of the Year. The premium Deu-La-Deu Alvarinho range includes Deu-La-Deu Histórico, with ageing potential of up to 20 years.
