About

The story

Adega Cooperativa de Almeirim was founded in 1958 in the town of Almeirim, in the Ribatejo, today's Tejo wine region. With around 2,000 hectares of vines and a production capacity of about 20 million litres a year, it is one of Portugal's largest wine producers, combining HACCP food-safety controls and modern cooling with ageing in French and American oak.

The range covers still wines, sparkling wines and spirits: A.C.A. Fernão Pires white and Marachas red; Portas do Tejo DOC sparkling from Chardonnay and Arinto, and Cacho Fresco sparkling from Fernão Pires; and A.C.A. Aguardente Vínica Velha, a grape brandy aged for more than 20 years.
