Leleka is the Ukrainian word for the white stork. In Ukraine the stork is a welcome sign of spring and a guardian of the home: a nest on the roof is believed to bring the family luck. The same bird is a familiar sight in Portugal, and on the country's southwest coast it does something it does nowhere else in the world: it builds its nests on the sea cliffs. The labels add a Ukrainian touch of their own, a woman's profile framed by flowers: sunflowers and cornflowers in blue and yellow on the white, red poppies on the rosé. The wine is a semi-dry Vinho Verde from the DOC region in Portugal's northwest.
