Mavka is a spirit of Ukrainian folklore: a young woman of the forests and fields, usually pictured with flowers woven into her hair, who lives in harmony with nature. She is best known as the heroine of Lesya Ukrainka's 1911 play The Forest Song, one of the classics of Ukrainian literature. The white is a semi-dry Vinho Verde from the DOC region in Portugal's northwest, light and fresh at 10% alcohol.
Tasting notes
- Appearance: pale straw with yellow reflections.
- Aroma: harmonious and citrus-led, both airy and serious, opening up to lemon peel, melon and a touch of honey and brioche.
- Palate: more structure than a typical entry-level Vinho Verde. Lemony, with hints of fresh herbs and gooseberry, crisp acidity and a clean, fresh finish.
Serving and storage
Serve at 9-11°C as an aperitif, or with grilled fish, seafood, goat's cheese and salads.
