About

The story

Virgen de las Viñas Bodega y Almazara was founded in 1961 by a small group of growers in Tomelloso, on Spain's La Mancha plateau. It has grown into one of the largest wine cooperatives in the world: after its 2026 merger with Vinícola de Tomelloso and Bodega San José, it brings together more than 3,000 members and over 23,000 hectares of vineyards, alongside around 2,400 hectares of olive groves for its oil mill. Around 60% of its turnover comes from exports.

Its wines carry the D.O. La Mancha and IGP Vino de la Tierra de Castilla designations, under brands including Tomillar, Lienzo, Monte Rodrigo, El Concierto, Viña Tomilla and Quinta del Duque, with Sentir and Momentum as organic ranges. The cooperative is certified to BRC, IFS Food and ISO 14001, and also produces extra virgin olive oils, including Sentir, Primacía and Casona del Prior.
