The Baskerville label shows a rabelo, the flat-bottomed sailing boat that for centuries carried barrels of Port down the Douro to the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia, opposite Porto, where the wine was aged and shipped to the world. Its English name is a nod to the British merchants who played a central part in that trade. Tawny is Port aged in wood: a blend of harvests that spends five to eight years in casks and vats, slowly taking on its amber colour and dried-fruit notes.
