Crocodile River takes its name from the river that runs along the southern edge of South Africa's Kruger National Park, and the label puts its namesake front and centre: a crocodile surrounded by birds, its scales picked out in varnish. The wine itself comes from the Western Cape winelands at the other end of the country. The rosé is made from Pinotage, South Africa's own grape, with Shiraz, in a fresh and fruity style.

Tasting notes

Pale salmon-pink. Bright cherry and strawberry flavours with a hint of spice. Ripe, fresh and slightly sweet.

Grapes and region

Pinotage and Shiraz, from W.O. Western Cape. Pinotage was created in South Africa in the 1920s by crossing Pinot Noir and Cinsault.

Winemaking

Made only from red grapes, with a short maceration after crushing for a soft salmon-copper colour. The juice is settled overnight, then blended and bottled early to keep its freshness.

Serving and storage

Enjoy with salads, fresh fruit and light cheeses.
