Baskerville Moscatel do Douro is a sweet fortified wine from the Douro Valley, made from 100% Moscatel Galego. Golden in colour, with floral notes, orange and honey. The label carries a rabelo, the traditional boat that once took wine barrels down the Douro river.
Tasting notes
Clear and golden, with the typical aroma of Moscatel: floral notes, orange and honey. Sweet and intense on the palate.
Winemaking
The grapes are fully destemmed and macerated on the skins for a long time, then fermented at a controlled 22–23 °C. Grape spirit is added to stop the fermentation, which raises the alcohol and keeps a high level of natural sugar.
Serving and storage
Serve chilled at 10–12 °C with an ice cube, before or after a meal. Pairs well with almonds, aged cheeses and desserts. For a Moscatel Tonic, mix 60 ml of Moscatel with 120 ml of tonic water over ice and add a slice of orange.
